I'm not off to a good start. My notion of posting pithy commentary and links every day hasn't quite worked out, at least thus far. I'm going to try and do better. Somehow I think that there will be many of these quasi-apologies in the near future. Rob Walker's site has become one of my favorite destinations, and I expect that I'll be pointing to it often. On a separate note, I gotta return some love to my boy Jonathan Iwaskow, who I spied on Peachtree Street in Atlanta this week. The rumor mill had placed him in the vicinity several months ago. And I finally ran into him. Small world, etc., etc.

I'm finally diving into the world of blogging, months, if not years, after the rest of the world. If you happen by here, what can you expect? A little bit of everything, and I don't promise to limit my discussions, rants or opinions to the topics listed at the top of the blog. My interests range wildly and oddly. The title of the blog, as an aside, comes from a magazine I used to edit, whose proper name was digitalsouth. A child of the Internet revolution, we chronicled start-up tech companies in the Southeast and Texas, writing mostly for and about those companies and the people around them, especially the venture capitalists and investment bankers. The mag went the way of many of its new economy brethren, that is to say it died a rather unceremonious death. The demise is one I'll recount later, in all its gory details. For now, I'll end the beginning.
